Hello, my name is Dieuwke. (It is pronounced ‘Choo-kuh’, I am named after my grandmother who also always had to spell out her name, and my parents decided that would be a fun thing for me to do as well.) Anyway, as a true philosophy student, I started pondering the whole summer, when I was asked to write a short introduction about who I am. Who am I? Who, really, am I? How do I truly know that ? And, when do I know that I know that? Also, can I even truly grasp who I am, or am I an ever-changing being? Actually, is there really an ‘I’? So, I decided to ask my family, since they at least saw the development of this so called ‘Dieuwke’. According to them, I am a bit strange. They also said that I can overthink certain things too much. As if! Haha. But they also said I am very creative, and always very willing to help others. So that is nice that I got that going for me. The body that this ‘I’ supposedly inhabits, absolutely loves her dog, Saba. If you want to get on my good side, you should definitely ask me for a picture of my dog, and act interested. This ‘I’ also loves watching sitcoms. There is something very comforting about them. I am currently watching the show ‘Mr. Monk’. I can definitely recommend it. I also have a very strong love for jewelry, and actually all things pretty. I try to make my own jewelry, but until now I can only make, in my own opinion, too fragile jewelry. So, I am trying to learn soldering, but I have very shaky hands so it’s a bit difficult still. What I do know, is that this ‘I’ is very excited about her board year. My roll this year will be Internal Relations and my main tasks will be the communications with the faculty, and the promotion of all our events.
