Dear fellow ERA-members, My name is Marieke Vugts and I’m going to be ERA’s chairwoman for the academic year of 2024-2025. Since joining the association in 2022 I’ve been part of EVA and the travel committee, so this year I decided it was time for the next level. I’m a pretty typical philosophy student as I love reading, writing and spending time surrounded by old dusty books and artworks. ERA is a great place to find people with similar interests, but above that it has also started feeling like home. I moved to Rotterdam without knowing anybody in the city, and this association had me feeling welcome within seconds. In my board year I would like to focus on creating this feeling for as many philosophy students as possible. We will open our doors for anyone who wants to join, whilst remaining the ERA that many older philosophy students know and love. I’m looking forward to the coming year and am excited to see what it will bring us.
